Today, we had the Queen of Angels Group meeting.
The young people who came today are from Grade 7 & Grade 5. We prayed the Holy Rosary. I gave them guided meditations using "pop-up" books.
I shared the stories of St. Joseph of Cupertino & St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina with the children.
St. Joseph of Cupertino didn't have much natural talents. But he relied on the grace of God, and he became a wonderful priest. He performed many wonders: miracles, bilocation, levitation, & prophecy. He had power over animals: Sheep responded when he was praying the Litany of Our Lady. He is patron for exam. Because despite great difficulties in studies, he was able to pass through 2 exams and became a priest.
Tomorrow is the 40th Anniversary of the death of St. Padre Pio (he died on September 23, 1968). He had the Stigmata (the 5 Wounds). The Mass was the centre of his whole life. Because of his gift of prophecy, he was very busy hearing Confessions. St. Padre Pio had a deep devotion to Our Lady. He prayed many Rosaries each day. He wanted to be known simply as "the friar who prays". St. Padre Pio helped many souls in Purgatory going to Heaven.
During the meeting, I showed the children the 2nd class relic I have of St. Pio. The children passed the relic around to bless themselves. I also let them to pass around the 1st class relic of St. Maria Goretti.
I used Holy Traders Cards for the children....
After teaching the children, I let them play with the "Do U Know?" Bible Game Cards....
