A Happy Anniversary

I am very grateful to God and to the people around me for a very beautiful 3rd Anniversary of my Ordination.

This morning I had the joy of baptizing my friend’s newborn daughter. My friend is a faithful reader of this blog. She asked me to come up with a baptismal name for the baby even before she was born. I finally decided the name: Mary Jacinta.

This morning I offered 2 thanksgiving Masses for my Priesthood. The first Mass at my Parish, and the second Mass at the convent of of Missionaries of Charity.

It was also the occasion to welcome the two new sisters to Vancouver and to say “good-bye” to the two sisters who are leaving.

This evening, there was a small party with some of my friends.

Saintly Quote of the Day (2009年5月31日)

Let the servants of Mary perform every day, and especially on Saturday, some work of charity for her sake.---ST. ALPHONSUS.

Saintly Quote of the Day (2009年5月30日)

Know that of all devotions the most pleasing to Mary is to have frequent recourse to her, asking for favors.---ST. ALPHONSUS.

Today is my 3rd Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood.

O Priest! thou art not thyself, because thou art God; thou art not of thyself, because thou art the servant and minister of Christ; thou art not thine own, because thou art the spouse of the Church; thou art not for thyself, because thou art the mediator between God and man; thou art not from thyself, because thou art nothing. What then art thou, O Priest? Nothing and everything. O Priest! take care lest what was said to Christ on the Cross be said to thee: He saved others, himself he cannot save. -St. Norbert

In your charity, please pray for this baby girl whom I baptized this week in the hospital.

May the Lord give her strength and health.

Saintly Quote of the Day (2009年5月29日)

Let the name of Mary be ever on your lips, let it be indelibly engraven on your heart. If you are under her protection, you have nothing to fear; if she is propitious, you will arrive at the part of salvation.---ST. BERNARD.

A Busy but Blissful Ascension Sunday

Jesus, before He ascended into Heaven, commanded the disciples to baptize.

Today I am grateful to be able to carry out this command of the Lord by baptizing a little baby boy.

Diaconate Ordination of my 2 Friends Today

Today we have 2 new deacons in our Archdiocese. Edwin Kulling and Rodney Nootebos  were ordained by Archbishop Michael Miller. The Archbishop preached very well about the diaconate. The deacons serve Christ and the Church in word, liturgy, and charity.  The inspirational words of our Archbishop also helped me to renew my own commitment as a deacon in my heart during the Ordination Mass. Me and 4 other brother priests were ordained as deacons 4 years ago at the same Cathedral church.P1060436

I forgot my camera today, so I could only take photos with my cell phone…..

In Loving Memory of Mrs. Rose Ho (1951-2001)

Today (May 23) is the 8th Anniversary of the death of my mother.

My mother died of cancer 8 years ago at Cancer Agency. At that time I was a seminarian. She promised me that when she entered Heaven, the first thing she would do is to pray to God that I would be a good priest.

We had devotion to Mary, Help of Christians. The Lord called her on the eve of the Feast of Help of Christians.

In your charity, please remember her soul in your prayers today. Thank you.

May the two names so sweet and so powerful, of Jesus and Mary, be always in our hearts and on our lips!---ST. ALPHONSUS.

Saintly Quote of the Day (2009年5月21日)

O most blessed Virgin, who declarest in thy Canticle that it is owing to thy humility that God hath done great things in thee, obtain for me the grace to imitate thee, that is, to be obedient; because to obey is to practise humility.---ST. VINCENT DE PAUL.

It’s Outrages!!! Priest Arrested for Pro-Life Protest @ Catholic University (Notre Dame)

image

Father Norman Weslin (an 80 years old priest, and founder of the Lambs of Christ) was arrested at Notre Dame University for his peaceful & prayerful protest against abortion.

Dr. Alan & 21 other people were arrested at Notre Dame for the same reason.

It is indeed a great shame for these things to happen in a Catholic University named after Our Lady.

“This week probably marks the first time in the history of the University when individuals have been arrested on campus for exercising their Catholic convictions and praying a prayer that has been recited in their chapel millions of times since its founding in 1842.”

Here is an interview of Alan Keyes on the issue of Notre Dame:

Saintly Quote of the Day (2009年5月19日)

Such is the compassion, such the  love which Mary bears us, that she is never tired of praying for us.---ST. ALPHONSUS.
